Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday (October 19) said her Govt put emphasis on increasing the cyber security proficiency.
She said: “Some problems about security arose alongside the digitalization of the country. We need to raise our level of aptitude to face this.”
The government will collect equipment and develop manpower in this regard, she added.
The premier made the assertion while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Digital World 2016, a three-day mega ICT event of Bangladesh, at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka in the morning.
The fourth edition of the event, began with the slogan “Non-stop Bangladesh”, will draw curtain on October 21 (Friday).
Sheikh Hasina said, “We have to be careful so that none can breach securities of financial and top secret sectors. Measures have to be taken so that none can commit criminal activities using digital facilities.”
Mentioning that the government is working on formulating Digital Security Act 2016, the premier announced the setting-up of digital forensic lab, cyber security agency, cyber evidence response team and high-level digital security council.
She also thanked her son and ICT affairs adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who received ICT for Development Award this year, saying he is her ICT teacher.
“I have learnt the use of computer from him. Even in last night, he taught me about transferring data from mobile phone to computer,” she added, in a lighter mood, during the speech.
